The Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation (SLLDC) is a corporate body duly established under the Colombo District (Low Lying Areas) Reclamation & Development Board Act No.15 of 1968 and amended by Law No.27 of 1976, Act No.52 of 1982, Act No.35 of 2006, Act No.11 of 2019 and Act No.13 of 2021. The objective of the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation is to develop low-lying lands that can be developed suitably for building construction and other industrial, commercial and agricultural activities in the areas declared under the SLLDC Act and to have custody, management and control of canals and also to undertake construction work and consultancy assignments in the field of Engineering and the prevention of pollution of canals.  Under the Act, approval is also given to regulate and develop low-lying, marshy, waste or swampy lands with the preparation and approval of storm water drainage plans. SLLDC Act No.35 of 2006 was further empowered by the amendment of 13 of 2021, authorizing the Corporation to take legal action against the ever increasing unauthorized filling and construction with the incorporate provisions to the Section 2(a)5, 2(b) 5 and 4(a)5,  empowering the magistrate to issue interim order to prevent unauthorized reclamation and development activities and to remove  earth used for landfilling. Our team of well qualified Engineers are from various engineering disciplines such as civil, mechanical, and electrical.  In addition we have Architects, Quantity Surveyors and the allied professional arm of Legal and Finance to meet and cater the demand of work handled by SLLDC.   • Engineering Designs and Consultancy Services
  1. Hydrology and Hydraulics – SLLDC has carved a niche for itself in this field. Hydrology and Hydrodynamic studies related to all the Expressway projects in the country were carried out by SLLDC.  Drainage & Reclamation plans connected with low-lying land development are being prepared by SLLDC.
  1. Architectural and Structural Designs – SLLDC specializes in structural and architectural designs of multistoried buildings, planning urban environments, landscape and interior designs.
  • Mining of Offshore sand – SLLDC is the pioneer organization to commence offshore sand mining and provide mechanically washed and sieved offshore sand for the local construction industry.
  • Operation and Management of Public Amenities – Diyasaru Park, Diyatha Uyana, Bellanwilla Park, Pagoda Wetland Park designed and maintained by SLLDC, provide the public a much needed aesthetic environment for relaxing.
  • Supply of Plant & Equipment – Owns a large fleet of machinery and equipment as a government and institution with a workshop of skilled workforce to cater for any capacity machinery centered project.
  • Wetland Conservation – Wetlands are an integral part of Sri Lanka’s unique ecological and biological diversity and are vital habitat for a large variety of fauna and flora where SLLDC restores and contributes wise use of urban wetlands for the sustainability and livability of the cities connecting ecosystem with the urban functions.
  • Civil and Construction Work
 
  1. Building construction
SLLDC undertakes construction of medium rise apartments, office, shopping complexes, bus stands at various parts in the country.  The 05 storied Data Centre at Kirimandala  Mawatha was recently completed by SLLDC.
  1. Lakes and Walk Path Construction
As a means of protecting the vulnerable areas from encroachment, periphery canals, landscaped walkways etc., are formed by SLLDC.
  • Canal Maintenance – Major and minor canals in and around Colombo are regulated through Treasury funds to mitigate floods.
  • Solid Waste Management – Waste Management Park at Kerawalapitiya obtains Municipal Solid Waste from 13 local authorities and private sector parties for degradable waste management and produces Compost daily.
  • Engineering Materials Testing Laboratory – ISO certified fully equipped EMT Lab carries out government and private sector testing of the engineering materials.
  • Development of Public Amenities – SLLDC carries out development of public amenities in various parts of the island nation with the aim of enhancing the scenery of the city, quality of lifd etc.,
  • Architectural Unit – Our approach to architecture consultancy services include architectural designs, planning urban environments, landscape designs and interior designs for various government and private sector institutions.
  • Quantity Surveying Unit – This unit provides services in-house as well as some to of our major clients in preparation of Bills of Quantities, estimates, pricing of tenders, preparation of contract documents etc.
  • Treasury Funded projects – SLLDC carries out several important projects funded by Treasury. Some of the on-going projects are given below;
  1. Public Institutions – Maintenance of canals, Lakes & Walkways, Flood Mitigation Activities, Development of Wetlands and lowlands, Detail designing, mapping & feasibility studying.

  • Cleaning of Beira Lake by de-silting and flushing.
